Passengers who are planning to travel from Delhi to Chandigarh will now have to pay 5 times more fare than the normal fare for booking tickets in domestic airlines on Monday. The fares are increased from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 18,000. The reason for the price hike is Jat quota agitation in Haryana. Thus, for this one-hour flight, passengers were charged Rs. 2,500 to Rs, 3000 until now. Further, the officials have cleared that the fare charges will remain as usual on the other days between these cities. The airlines also said that the reason for the increase in the fares is due to the increased booking on Monday.
The booking on Monday was the highest; hence, the airline has decided to increase fare charges. However, as the demand is lowered, the fares are likely to lower in the days to come. Other airlines like SpiceJet and Jet Airways also cleared it that fare charges will fluctuate with the increase and decrease of the booking. Airlines also said that due to low booking on flights after June 7, the fares are expected to go further down to Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 9,000.
