During “Meet the Tourism Trade Interaction”, tourism stakeholders emphasized on introducing direct flights for Air India from various metro cities like Mumbai, Nagpur, Kolkata and Bangalore to Srinagar. Tourism stakeholders also suggested having international commercially feasible Air routes such as Srinagar – Dubai – Jeddah and Srinagar - Bangkok via Delhi. In this trade interaction CMD of Air India, Ashwani Lohani was also present along with Secretary Tourism, Farooq A Shah and Director of Tourism Kashmir, Mehmood Shah.
In this interaction, CMD of Air India assured of considering the different suggestions of tourism stakeholders and everyone related to tourism. These suggestions were based on the profits that tourism will have from direct international flights to Srinagar. Increasing tourism due to pilgrimage reasons and youths who are available in various countries will have an opportunity to visit Srinagar from these direct flights. As per Nasir, Far east markets will be tapped by BKK sector and suggested that Air India should have daily flights that connects Leh such as Delhi – Leh – Srinagar – Delhi and Delhi – Srinagar – Leh – Delhi.
