About Hakgala Garden
The plant is coterminous to Hakgala Strict Nature Reserve. Hakgala Botanical Garden is arranged on the Nuwara Eliya-Badulla principle street, 16 km from Nuwara Eliya. The garden has a cool calm atmosphere due to elevation is 5,400 feet over the ocean level. The mean yearly temperature goes between 16 °C to 30 °C amid course of a year. From December to February it has a frosty atmosphere, while the warm atmosphere holds on from April to August.
The plant was set up in 1861, under George Henry Kendrick Thwaites as a trial development of Cinchona, a business trim flourishing at the time. Once after the Tea supplanted the Cinchona, it was transformed into an exploratory Tea development. In 1884 it changed to a garden. From that point forward numerous sub tropical and some mild plants were planted in the patio nurseries.
