About Siculeni
Siculeni is a commune in Harghita County, Romania. It lies inside the Szekely Land, an ethno-cultural place in eastern Transylvania. The Siculicidium occurred right here. The commune consists of a unmarried village, Siculeni. In 2004, four villages broke off to form Ciceu and Racu Communes. He village was part of the Szekely Land location of the ancient Transylvania province. Its Hungarian call became first recorded in 1567 in the form of Amadeffalwa and in 1602 the village is already noted through a shortened bureaucracy as Madefalva which have become the names of the village. Later, till 1899 the reliable name of the town become Csik-Madefalva. The Romanian form of its call changed into Madefalau,
The government renamed it for the present day reputable name after 1919. The Siculicidium, or the Massacre at Madefalva of January 7, 1764 came about here. 2 hundred Szekely had been killed by way of Maria Theresa's Habsburg army as the neighborhood Szekely Hungarians refused to sign up for as recruits the newly organized borderguard regiments. Following the massacre, a first rate number of Szekely humans started out to flee the region crossing the Carpathian Mountains into Bukovina and Moldova.
