About Bridal Veil Falls

Bridal Veil Falls is a plunge waterfall placed along the Pakoka River in the Waikato vicinity of New Zealand. The waterfall is 55 m high, and has through the years precipitated the formation of a huge pool at the bottom of the waterfall. The falls are within the 217 ha Waireinga Scenic Reserve with tawa-dominated woodland. The water cascades over a basalt cliff, formed with the aid of volcanic activity, whilst an Okete Volcanics vent, on the 226 m hill just to the north, erupted about 2 million years in the past and blocked the valley.

Approximately 15 minutes from the nearby city of Raglan, the falls may be located after an smooth 10-minute stroll via local bush, along the Pakoka River. Facilities encompass parking, lengthy-drop bathrooms and four lookout structures. River crossings are bridged. It is a steep descent to the falls base, no longer handicap enabled, through 261 steps reduce into a properly maintained path. 400m past Bridal Veil vehicle park, in which Kawhia Rd becomes gravel, is the start of the 6 km Pipiwharauroa Way walking and biking song.
