The Buurserzand

The Buurserzand is a nature reserve near Haaksbergen in Overijssel. It is controlled by the Natuurmonumenten Association and consists largely of forest and heathland . The Buurserzand is placed inside the province of Overijssel and belongs to the municipalities of Haaksbergen and Enschede . The Buurserzand is located nearly at once east of the Haaksbergen middle, south of the N18 . To the south it connects to the Haaksbergerveen, which extends at the German border. The Buurserzand covers an area of 455 ha in mid-2009. Until these days, there were deeply drained watercourses within the Buurserzand. The damming of the Steenhaarleiding in 2000 created a new fen within the middle of the place. Another watercourse, which couldn't yet be closed due to the rural enclave at the neighboring circulate, become pushed up. It is supposed that in addition ditches in and across the reserve place will be pushed up or lifted. Purchases of intermediate areas of agricultural land and the conversion of parts of it into wet heathland have already created a hall to the Haaksbergerveen.

The majority of the Buurserzand includes dry heather on old drifting sand with scrub and shrub broom . Low-nutrient and weakly buffeted fens are discovered in various places together with the Buursermeertje wherein big Beenbreek grows along wet heaths with specially heather . In and around the puddles one finds sundew and bladderwort. Scattered via the heather and huge thickets are observed juniper. There are a few orchid pastures on moist grasslands with noticed orchis , bellflower gentian frequented with the aid of the gentian blue and parnassia .
