Historic center of Mexico City

The historic center of Mexico City otherwise called the Centro or Centro Historico, is the focal neighborhood in Mexico City, Mexico, concentrated on Zocalo or Main square and reaching out every which way for various squares, with its most distant degree being west to the Alameda Central. The Zocalo is the biggest court in Latin America. It can hold up to about 100,000 individuals. This segment of the capital lies in the city district of Cuauhtemoc, has a little more than 9 square km and involves 668 squares. It contains 9,000 structures, 1,550 of which have been pronounced of recorded significance.

The greater part of these memorable structures were built between the 16th and 20th centuries. It is partitioned into two zones for protection purposes. Zone A encompasses the pre-Hispanic city and its expansion from the Viceroy period until Independence. Zone B covers the regions every other development as far as possible of the 19^th century that are viewed as key to the safeguarding of the zone's building and social legacy. This is the place the Spaniards started to assemble what is presently current Mexico City in the 16th century on the remains of the vanquished Tenochtitlan, capital of the Aztec Empire.
