About Kuraman Island

Kuraman Island Malay: Pulau Kuraman, elective name Keraman Island, is a remote island in the Federal Territory of Labuan, Malaysia situated on the northern mouth of Brunei Bay. It is meagerly populated and is prominent with exiles, jumpers and the individuals who travel among Labuan and Brunei. Its territory region estimates 147 hectares. Together with the considerably littler islands Pulau Rusukan Besar and Pulau Rusukan Kecil it frames the Labuan Marine Park.

Kuraman island has two principle shorelines and is noted for its angling, substantial sand spit and charming tropical island climate. The inside is forested with a scope of timbers and contains cleared ways for wilderness strolls. As of late, expansive tempests have added to expanded disintegration bringing about a few regions of vegetation and ious structures being washed into the ocean.

In the encompassing waters off Kuraman there are a few known wrecks including the Dutch Steamer SS De Klerk and a minesweeper, the USS Salute, both sunk amid the Second World War. Kuraman, similar to whatever is left of North Borneo, was caught by the Japanese amid this period and was freed by the Australian Army in 1945, albeit no battling at any point happened on the island. Two other significant wrecks can be found in the region: the MV Tung Hwuang, a vessel that sank in the 1980s while transporting concrete to Brunei for the Sultan's new castle, and the MV Mabini Padre, a trawler from the Philippines which burst into flames and sank in 1981.
