About Ohara Museum of Art

The Ohara Museum of Art in Kurashiki is the oldest museum of western craftsmanship in Japan and opened in 1930. The private exhibition hall was crafted by neighborhood material business visionary Ohara Magosaburo to honor his companion, painter Kojima Torajiro 1881-1929, who had kicked the bucket the earlier year. Ohara had supported Kojima on craftsmanship purchasing excursions to Europe and it is the works of art Kojima obtained for Ohara that structure the center of the gathering.
