About Sasso Marconi
Sasso Marconi is an Italian city of 14,906 inhabitants inside the metropolitan metropolis of Bologna, in Emilia Romagna, whose territory occupies the first hilly area of the Bolognese Apennines among the decrease valley of the Reno river, the decrease portion of the Setta valley to the south east and part of the river basin of the Lavino river to the west. Until the first half of of the 20th century the municipality became referred to as Praduro and Sasso, to take the call of Sasso Bolognese with Royal Decree of 20 June 1935, n. 1386. In 1938 it assumed the cutting edge name of Sasso Marconi, in honor of the Nobel Prize winner Guglielmo Marconi.
The city takes its call from the Sasso Della Glosina, a rock of the Pliocene Contra uniqueness that dominates the confluence of the Setta and Reno rivers, and by using Guglielmo Marconi, the widely recognized scientist. Previously the homonyms that identified the vicinity were Praduro and Sasso. In 1935 it changed its call to Sasso Bolognese and in 1938 to Sasso Marconi, in reminiscence of the scientist.
