Perayaan Sekaten

Sekaten's boyfriend is a ritual ceremony at the Kraton Yogyakarta which is held every year. The ceremony is held for seven days, ie from the 5th of Mulud Rabiulawal afternoon until the 11th of Mulud midnight. The ceremony of Sekaten is held to commemorate the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad. Another purpose of organizing this ceremony is for the spread of Islam. There are several opinions about the origin of the name Sekaten, namely:The word sekaten is derived from the word sekati, which is the name of the two gamelan devices of Kraton Yogyakarta's Kraton Kanjeng Kyai Sekati which is played in a series of commemorations of the birth of Prophet Muhammad SAW.
