Sanganer, situated about 16 km south of Jaipur, is a famous village recognized for preserving beautiful Jain Temples. Here the most iconic Jain shrine is Shri Digambar Jain Temple thoroughly made of stone with three pinnacles. It also reveals an idol of Parshwanath with 7 serpent hoods installed in the middle. Besides, you may get lucky to see an artistic miracle, the image of principal deity the Lord Adinathji (the first Jain Tirthankar). Prepared of red sandstone the idol is said to be around 4000 years old beautified with fascinating carvings. Architecturally speaking, the Lord Adinathji temple also builds on the same line of Delwara Temples of Mount Abu. Therefore the idol viewing (Darshan) by devotees or followers of Jainism turns out to an enriching experience.
Sanganer village around pink city Jaipur also remains in limelight for its incredible art and crafts. Its hand-printed textiles are one of its own kinds. Amazingly, the villages handmade paper industry is recognized all over India for producing unsurpassed quality handmade paper. Plus, the local artisans and printers are also experts in floral and block prints, which are a must-buy during your excursion trip to the place. More to the point, the concept of introducing the handmade paper industry was laid by Maharaja Sawai Singh II. While throwing some light on Sanganer village we also get to know that the village is a safe haven for medieval ruins and primeval temples- all emerge as the remnants of a bygone, regal era.
Sanganer is a worth-visiting town particularly from October to March. It is so because climatic conditions between April and September remain hot and arid. You can easily reach here by all major flights as the Jaipur Airport is situated centrally in Sanganer. However, the village has also got superb train connectivity.
