About Harike Wildlife Sanctuary

The Harike Wildlife Sanctuary is a Sanctuaries in Ferozepur-Amritsar outskirt. The site extends over a region of around 86 sq km and was announced a Wildlife Sanctuary in 1999. It was considered as a Ramsar site in 1990 by the International Body of Wetlands.

This haven is home to numerous winged creatures, including transitory feathered creatures from different areas like the Arctic district and Siberia. Around 375 feathered creature species can be found in the asylum. Amid the transient season, explorers can spot around 45,000 ducks, notwithstanding shoveller, regular greenish blue, pintail, brahminy duck and wigeon. Diverse sorts of jumping ducks like regular pochard, tufted ducksand peaked pochard can be seen.
