About Ranjit Sagar Dam

The Ranjit Sagar Dam, also known as the Thein Dam, is part of a hydroelectric project constructed by the Government of Punjab on the Ravi River on the Border of two states of India Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab. It’s the largest hydroelectric project in Punjab and is a tourist attraction cause of the natural lake that has formed behind the dam. It’s from here that the tourists can embark upon spectacular walks in the local area, or take excursions by boats.

The dam is impressively constructed and offers a heavenly view of the city and other major attractions. A popular picnic spot, the dam has been accorded the status of being the highest gravity dam in the continent.
