About Government Museum

Government Museum is located on Beach Road, near the Tourist Office in Kanyakumari Town in Kanyakumari District of Tamilnadu. The Government Museum of Kanyakumari changed into established in the year 1991 as a multipurpose museum. There is a great series of exhibits within the museum which arerelated to anthropology, archaeology, numismatics, philately, botany, zoology and geology. Sculpture dartefacts and crafts from the South Indian temples also are displayed here. The sculptures of Srinivasa, Manickavasagar, Tirumangai Alwar, Rama, etc.

There are some of the excellent well-knownshows. Old cash, tribal objects, timber carvings, musical objects, zoological and botanical specimens, bronzes, etc. There are also on show here. The fundamental appeal of the Government Museum is the Temple Car crafted from Swamithoppu and whale-bones from Manavalakurichi in Kanyakumari District. TheTravancore Gallery is also famous because it consists of memorabilia of the records of Travancore. You can visit this place with your loved ones.
