About Gauting
Gauting is a municipality inside the district of Sternberg, in Bavaria, Germany with a population of approximately 20,000. It is located at the river Wurm, 17 kilometers southwest of Munich and is a part of the Munich metropolitan area. Although the name, Gauting, is first noted in 753 settlements within the Gauting place lines lower back to early Bronze Age and is consequently among the earliest in upper Bavaria. Cairns in Stockport and a huge Celtic entrenchment provide proof of the prehistoric dwellings.
Under the Roman Empire the agreement, then known as Bratananium, marked a first-rate crossroad of Via Julia, which related the provincial capital Augusta Vindelicorum with Juvavum and Lake Constance. Many artifacts from that time had been located. A persistent local perception is that Charlemagne become born on the Reismuhle, situated on the south fringe of Gauting, as a consequence the imperial crown appears in Gauting's coat of hands. For a few years, Gauting existed as a small rural village nestled within the Wurm valley. A dramatic upward thrust in population began with the hole of the Munich Sternberg railroad in 1854.
