About Bismarck Tower

The Hagen Bismarckturm in memory of the fundamental Chancellor of the German Reich, Otto von Bismarck, stays in the Westphalian town of Hagen on the contiguous Goldberg. As one of the vital Bismarck segments, the zenith was worked in the years 1900/1901 to an arrangement by the organizer Wilhelm Kreis of the impermanent specialist B. Liebold and Co. from Holzminden. Kreis had made in 1899 for a restriction of the “German understudy body” a basic zenith layout "Gotterdammerung" as a huge backbone of fire, which was allowed by the initiators and fabricated 47 times (in the year 1911).

The improvement of the apex in Hagen slanted close to this arrangement and was done on 2 July 1901. For the outside of the zenith Ruhr sandstone was used, for within cut greywacke. The principle external improvement of the apex is the assistance of the illustrious bird of prey with Bismarck ensign on the way side. The apex stays at a stature of 265m and has a total height of 24 meters. From April 2006 access to the zenith in light of debilitation was unfeasible.

The city of Hagen did not want to patch up the Bismarck tower due to surveyed remodel costs of over € 500,000, the passageway to the zenith was obstructed by a fleeting wall. On January 11, 2011, the Forderverein Bismarckturm Hagen was set up, which had characterized itself the goal of re-building up the apex and making it accessible again. The building was generally overhauled before the complete of June 2014 through blessings, sponsoring from the NRW Foundation and responsibilities by the Forderverein.
