Excursion to Thimphu Valley.

After breakfast drive to Punakha. Punakha is about an hour drive to Thimphu located at an average elevation of 1200 meters above sea level with a pleasant climate with warm winters and hot summers. Visit Chimi Lhakang-the fertility temple and exploring the Botanical Park and experiencing the river rafting. Overnight stay at Punakha.

Phobjikha is a majestic wide alpine wetland valley about three hours drive from Punakha. The valley is considered the largest and the most significant wetland in the country. Phobjikha is a conservation zone and home to Black Necked Cranes where the fly down from Tibet to spend the winter. The vegetation of the valley is mostly pine forests, interspersed with Rhododendron trees, with bush bamboo carpeting the floor.

The day will begin with early proceed to Paro and upon arrival, walk up the Tiger’s Nest Monastery which takes around 3 hours to reach the top where you can go in and look around the monastery. Or you can choose to visit other historic sites and historical buildings in the valley. Paro is also home to the National museum which is set in Paro Ta Dzong, an ancient watch tower that displays ious ancient Bhutanese artifacts and artwork including traditional costumes, armour, weaponry and handcrafted implements for daily life. One of the distinctive features of Paro town is that it is situated in a flat valley bottom and follows a grid-like pattern. Drugyel Dzong or the Fortress of the victorious Bhutanese is another site worth visiting in Paro.
