Split City Museum

The City Museum of Split was established in 1946. It is situated in the northeastern piece of Diocletian's castle, inside the complex of Medieval buildinqs at whose middle is the Gothic royal residence of the Papalic family composed and worked by the local ace Juraj of Dalmatia and his stonecarvers and manufacturers circle. Wonderfully excuted are the yard with its luxuriously embellished gateway and loggia, the main floor lobby with its rich four-light, two-light and one-light windows and with the all around safeguarded wooden roof. The Renaissance working with a fine window embellishment finishes the group of the patio. Inside, the changeless historical center display relates a fragment from the historical backdrop of the city, the period when Split was an independent city cooperative .
