About Western Xia mausoleums

The Western Xia catacombs at the foot of the Helan Mountains in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region of northwestern China incorporates nine supreme sepulchers and 250 tombs of majestic relatives and authorities. This entombment complex lies somewhere in the range of 40 km 25 mi westbound from capital city of the Western Xia, the Xingqing fu or Xingqing, that is advanced Yinchuan, capital of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. Around 17,000 m² have so far been unearthed, and endeavors are in progress to anchor and protect the remaining parts of this inadequately comprehended period.
The Western Xia tradition otherwise called Tangut Empire, existed somewhere in the range of 1038 and 1227, when it was vanquished by the Mongols under Genghis Khan. The domain was established by the Tangut ethnic gathering, about which little is at present known of ebb and flow unearthings, just the No.3 sepulcher has been enough exhumed and looked into. This sepulcher is credited to Western Xia's first head Jingzong, conceived Li Yuanhao, 1003-1048, has been resolved as a structure tower development combining both conventional catacomb and sanctuary styles with Buddhist attributes. The Western Xia capital city and the entombment complex evaded mid twentieth century pioneers of Central Asia, including Pyotr Kozlov, Aurel Stein and Sven Hedin.
