About Hongfu Temple

Hongfu Temple is a Buddhist sanctuary situated on Mount Qianling, in Yunyan District of Guiyang, Guizhou, China. Hongfu Temple and Qixia Temple are all in all known as the "Two Attractions in Guiyang". The sanctuary was initially worked in 1672 by priest Chisong, under the Qing tradition 1644– 1911. After the Parinirvana of Chisong, his supporter Zhai Mai succeeded the abbot. In 1739, in the fourth year of Qianlong period, the Qing government presented an arrangement of Chinese Buddhist ordinance on the sanctuary.

In 1929, priest Guoyao established the Guizhou Buddhist College in the sanctuary. After the establishing of the Communist State, ace Huaiyi filled in as abbot of Hongfu Temple. Amid the ten-year Cultural Revolution, the sanctuary was bedraggled with enormous misfortunes of the social relics. After the third Plenary Session of the eleventh Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party in 1983, Hongfu Temple was assigned as a National Key Buddhist Temple in Han Chinese Area by the State Council of China. On July 28, 1987, the administration exchanged the administration rights to the sanctuary.

Presently the current fundamental structures incorporate the Shanmen, Four Heavenly Kings Hall, Mahavira Hall, Hall of Guanyin, Hall of Maitreya, Buddhist Texts Library, and Pilu Pavilion. The Mahavira Hall revering the Three Saints of Hua-yan. In the center is Sakyamuni, statues of Manjushri and Samantabhadra remain on the left and right sides of Sakyamuni's statue. Before Sakyamuni stand Ananda and Kassapa Buddha on the left and right. The statues of Eighteen Arhats remain on the two sides of the corridor.
