About North Battleford
North Battleford is a city in west-central Saskatchewan, Canada. It is the seventh largest city in the province and is directly across the North Saskatchewan River from the Town of Battleford. Together, the two networks are known as "The Battlefords". North Battleford fringes the Rural Municipality of North Battleford No. 437, and also the North Battleford Crown Colony. The Battlefords are served by the Yellowhead Highway and Highway 4, Highway 26, Highway 29, and Highway 40.
Battlefords Provincial Park is 40 kilometers north on Highway 4. For a large number of years preceding European settlement, succeeding societies of indigenous people groups lived in the territory. The Battlefords territory was home to a few memorable native gatherings, including the Algonquian-speaking Cree and Blackfeet and additionally Siouan Assiniboine First Nation band governments, who challenged for control of nearby assets.
Early European settlement started because of hide exchanging by French homesteaders in the late eighteenth century. The Canadians established Fort Montaigne d'Aigle nine miles underneath the conversion of the Saskatchewan and Battle Rivers in 1778. After a year the fortress was relinquished after clash among dealers and locals. North Battleford is the home of one of four parts of the Saskatchewan Western Development Museum. This branch centers around the horticultural history of Saskatchewan, including a pioneer town.
