About Arthur
Arthur is a community located just north of Highway 6 and Wellington Road 109 in the township of Wellington North, Ontario, Canada. Earlier a free town, Arthur was amalgamated into Wellington North on January 1, 1999. The town was named after Arthur Wellesley, first Duke of Wellington. Pioneers started touching base in 1840. The territory was first overviewed in 1841 by John McDonald and after that authoritatively in 1846 by D.B. Papineau. Amid the primary overview in 1841, the number of inhabitants in Arthur was 22 individuals.
Throughout the following 15 years this number rose to 400 and by 1900 the populace had ascended to a little more than 1500.
