Museu Paraense Emilio Goeldi

The Museu Paraense Emilio Goeldi is a Brazilian research establishment and historical center situated in the city of Belem, territory of Para. It was established in 1866 by Domingos Soares Ferreira Penna as the Para Museum of Natural History and Ethnography, and was later named to pay tribute to Swiss naturalist Emil August Goeldi, who redesigned the foundation and was its chief from 1894 to 1905.
