Burg Reuland

Burg-Reuland is a Belgian municipality positioned inside the province of Liege, Walloon Region. It is part of the German-talking Community of Belgium and is therefore one of the 9 German-speakme municipalities of Belgium. In 1285, Conon d'Ouren is at the Chauvency Tournament, near Montmedy. In his poetic record, Jacques Bretel tells the sport for the duration of which he's measured against Perrart de Grailly, his opponent. One of the miniatures of the Oxford manuscript provides those two knights and their crest.

Burg-Reuland is one of the communes of the previous German cantons, which have been supplied to Belgium by using the Treaty of Versailles in 1919 as compensation for the losses suffered at some point of the First World War. When the municipalities of Belgium have been merged in 1977, the previous municipality of Reuland merged with that of Thommen to take its gift shape. The commune is bounded on the west by way of the province of Luxembourg, at the south-west with the aid of the Luxembourg border and on the south-east via the German border which separates it from the Rhineland-Palatinate. The tripoint Germany-Belgium-Luxembourg is therefore within the municipality, more exactly in the southern enclave occupied via the village of Ouren.
