Gembloux

Gembloux is a French-speaking city in Belgium placed inside the Walloon Region in the province of Namur. It is positioned on the Brussels-Namur avenue on the northern tip of the province. In 936, Saint Guibert constructed a church and a monastery which his grandmother Gisla and himself endowed with enormous and numerous houses in Belgium and France. Refusing to become the first abbot, he went to Gorze, Lorraine to grow to be a monk whilst having formerly hooked up Erluin as first chief of the Abbey of Saint-Pierre de Gembloux. On September 20, 946, Emperor Otto I granted a constitution which protects this foundation.
