About Schloss Klessheim

Schloss Klessheim is a Baroque royal residence situated in Wals-Siezenheim, 4 km west of Salzburg, Austria. The royal residence was composed and developed by Austrian designer Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach for Prince-Archbishop Johann Ernst von Thun in 1700. It turned into the late spring habitation of the Archbishops of Salzburg. Since 1993, the castle has been utilized by Salzburg Casino. In the late seventeenth century, Prince-Archbishop Johann Ernst von Thun bought the little noble domain and Kleshof lodge at this site. In 1700, he appointed Austrian designer Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach to extend the villa and build a rich castle.

Impacted by the north Italian Mannerist style, Fischer von Erlach took a shot at the royal residence, which was called Lustschloss Favorita, in the vicinity of 1700 and 1709. Development was interfered with following the diocese supervisor's passing in 1709. His successor, Archbishop Franz Anton von Harrach dropped work for Schloss Mirabell. Schloss Klessheim was finished in 1732 under Archbishop Count Leopold Anton von Firmian, who shortened the first designs altogether. The finished royal residence contained a stylized corridor with a stretched out patio and incline prompting the greenery enclosures, a passageway with a great Triton Fountain, a loggia and a passage lobby and staircase. The inside stucco work was finished by Paolo d'Allio and Diego Francesco Carlone, as indicated by plans by Fischer von Erlach.
