Ephesus

This is one of the very few ancient cities that are very well preserved and reveal a lot about a civilization. The city was built around 550 BCE when the magnificent Temple of Artemis was constructed. The city was razed to ground and again rebuilt many a times in different periods which means the ruins found here belong to different periods. The main sites to be seen here are Roman Library of Celsus, Gate of Augustus, and ruins of Temple of Artemis. The Temple of Artemis was one of the most stunning building during that period. It was also considered as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. But today, it is represented only by a few columns.
