It is referred by many names like 'the land god made in anger' and as the Portuguese call it, 'the Gates of hell'. Once you see the coast, it is not tough to determine why such names were coined to a place with an already terrifying name. It is barren and strewn with nothing but wreckage of many ships that could not make out of here and some rocky outcrops. A large part of the Skeleton coast has been designated as a Skeleton Coast National Park. It covers an area of nearly 16,000 km2. The beach is constantly lashed with huge waves which make water sports in the area near to impossible.
