Any beer lover will swear buy this event that has attained a cult status. Existing in the German social circuit since 1810, the Munich Oktoberfest elevates the charm associated with beer to an another level unmatched by the rest. Apart from being a beer festival, this fiesta is like a social celebration with music and other entertainment shows going side by side.

More popular as the Munich Beer Festival in the world community, the Munich Oktoberfest is a grand celebration of beer in a majestic and gigantic way. The hardcore beer enthusiasts flock to this German city every year to be a part of this unique event.

The Munich Oktoberfest had a humble beginning in the year 1810 and passing through lots of highs and lows this gala event has attained a stature of repute and honor. The popularity of it is evident from the fact that nearly six million people takes part here every year.

The event kicks off with a ceremonial procession with colorfully draped well breed horses making their way to the Schwanthaler Strasse towards the Theresienwiese.

The commencement of the 16 day celebration is marked by the tapping of the first bottle of beer by the Mayor himself. What follows next is no less than a scene drawn from a fairy tale.

The event is observed in 14 different tents that houses 10,00,000 of people at one time. The amount of beer consumed is a staggering 5.5 million litres with countless pounds of fried chicken and other cattle. The annual commercial value of Munich Oktoberfest is at least 0.7 billion Euro.

This event is much more than ever flowing beer and booze. The tents play music of different genre at various time slots in a day. In the recent past, the organizers have emphasized on the comfort level of the family crowds and have accommodated few new dimensions to the event along with modifying some existing norms.
