Gravensteen Castle, Ghent

Gravensteen Castle, the name of which means 'Castle of the count' is situated in the quaint city of Ghent and is unlike other castles in the country. It was build by count Philip of Alsace, the present structure was completed in the year 1180. It is one of the very few castles that still survive in Belgium though not without any reconstructions. The castle was renovated heavily in due course. And this has raised many questions about its authenticity. Though its grandeur is still adored by tourists and locales alike.
