About Lake Kariba

Spend a weekend on the worlds largest artificial lake, Lake Kariba. It is located in the Southern Province of Zambia on the Zimbabwean border. It offers spectacular views, stunning sunsets, great fishing, boating opportunities, water sports or wonderful relaxing holidays or just soak up the sunshine. The weather here is mostly sunny and fine. Stay in the town of Siavonga for a relaxing getaway. Take a boat cruise and visit Lake Kariba Dam, which is Africa's largest man-made dam, 226 km long and in some places up to 40 km wide. The fascinating story of the dams construction will enthral technical minded visitors, while those who prefer to take in the splendour of the lake will be enthralled by a walk over the lake bridge.

For sports fishing enthusiasts Lake Kariba is a dream come true. With the variety of fish species which are plentiful in the lakes vast waters, the chances of catching a coveted tiger fish or bream are good for the skilful fisherman. And you can also dine on local crayfish.
