About City Hall
The City Hall you see today took two years to fabricate. Steel, stone and four stories of white marble insides make up San Francisco's image of versatility worked after the past City Hall was crushed in the Great Earthquake and Fire of April 18, 1906. City pioneers were resolved to show the city's resurrection in time for the beginning of the World's Fair of 1915. Outlined by designer Arthur Brown, Jr. what's more, started in 1913, locals and the world were appropriately awed by the overlaid outside itemizing, the general fabulous staircase, and the enormous arch.
At 307 feet in tallness, the arch is an entire 42 feet taller than the vault of the country's legislative center. Amid the previous century, the building has seen major political changes and statistic moves in the cosmetics of its officials.
