Nahargarh fort is the first of three forts built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. The fort is situated in Sawai Madhopur, in Rajasthan. It is located at the edge of Araballi, one of the largest mountains in the world. The fort offers a panoramic view of entire Pink City of Rajasthan. History says that the fort was named after the prince Nahar. It is said that during the construction of this palace his spirit troubled the area.

The Nahargarh fort has got some wonderful quarters with some unique architectural design. Madhavendra Bhawan, or the Zenana (female) quarters is the most remarkable in the Nahargarh Fort. The king had 9 wives and all of them got 1 quarter each. The arty ambiance of these quarters represents the rich artistic heritage of Rajputana and the luxurious living style of the kings.Nahargarh is the best example of the architecture of Rajputana. Each and every corner of the fort represents unique design and architecture of frescoes. The ladies of Rajputana used to spend their leisure time at this fort. The Belgian mirrors with adornment of flowers and birds, enriches the beauty of the palace?s interior design. European style of architecture is reflected in The Zenana derohi. Western style and rectangular style can be traced in toilets as well.Numbers of structures are located inside the fort. The architectural style of the fort includes both Indian as well as European technique. Tadigate, a temple dedicated to the goddess of the Jaipur rulers is located to the left of the entrance gate. Inside the fort, one can see another temple built in memory of the Rathore Price Nahar Singh Bhomia. Other parts of the fort include Diwan-I-Aam. It is an open air enclosed space where the king used to sit and listen the problems of common people.Ranthambore national park is located nearby the Nahargarh Fort. It is one of the biggest national parks in India. One can spot Royal Bengal Tigers here. During the days of Rajput kings, it was the favourite hunting spot of the kings. Now days, the park is a favorite destination for the wildlife photographers. People from across the country join here to spend their holidays and leisure time. Some of the wildest predators are found in Ranthambore. You can see their activities in their natural surroundings. The park is house to many other animals and rare species of birds.
