Barlad

Barlad is a metropolis in Vaslui County, Romania. It lies on the banks of the Barlad River, which waters the excessive plains of Moldavia. At Barlad the railway from Iasi diverges, one branch skirting the river Siret, the opposite skirting the Prut; both reunite at Galati. Along with a maze of narrow and winding streets, Barlad features several high-quality modern homes, including the hospital administered via the Saint Spiridion Foundation of Iasi.

In the region of the city are ruins of a Roman camp.During World War II, Barlad was captured on 24 August 1944 through Soviet troops of the 2nd Ukrainian Front within the path of the Jassy–Kishinev Offensive. Scholars maintain to debate the foundation of the town's call. The Hypatian Codex mentions a marketplace city referred to as Berlad, and a few historians, stimulated via a record Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu published in the 19th century, have attempted to hyperlink this metropolis and its population variously considered Romanians, East Slavs or an amalgam with the Moldavian Barlad. Ioan Bogdan validated that the Hasdeu record became fake, thus invalidating the hypothesis.
