About Ostroleka
Ostroleka is a town in northeastern Poland on the Narew River, about 120 km northeast of Warsaw, with a population of 52,792 and an area of 33, 46 km². The city is situated in the Masovian Voivodeship on the grounds that 1999 and its miles the previous capital of the Ostroleka Voivodeship 1975 to 1998. Ostroleka is presently the capital of both Ostroleka County and Ostroleka City County. Until the late 1980s, Ostroleka was a neighborhood railroad junction, with four strains stemming from Ostroleka railway station eastwards to lapy and Bialystok, southwestwards to Tluszcz and Warsaw, northwards to Wielbark and Olsztyn, and southwards to Malkinia.
The city's name refers to a sand dust plain placed at the left facet of the Narew River which regularly flooded inside the springtime at some point of the centuries. A small fortress was built on an island in the eleventh or 12th Century, currently placed simply 1 kilometer west of the modern day city middle. The castle changed into considered one of few moderately constructed fortifications along the Narew River on the time.
