Uthukkottai

Uthukottai is a panchayat town in Tamil Nadu, alongside Andhra Pradesh, situated on the banks of the Arani stream. The town includes a channel which coordinates water from the Krishna waterway for neighborhood water system. The name Uthukottai is a portmanteau of two Tamil words Uthu, or "water originating from earth," and Kottai, which connotes the Muslim Zamindars Kottai situated there. The town of Surutapalli, where a celebrated Shiva sanctuary is found, is adjacent.
