Sri Kanaka Maha Lakshmi Temple

Sri Kanaka Maha Lakshmi is the presiding deity of Visakhapatnam locals. The temple is placed in Burujupeta of Visakhapatnam metropolis. In to date as Sthalapuranam of this Temple is concerned, there may be no authentic statistics. It is learnt that Sri Kanaka Maha Lakshmi Ammavaru is the family deity of the then "Rajas of Visakhapatnam". The locality where the idol was determined is referred to as "Burujupeta" because it became close to "Buruju" of the "Fort" of the then Rajas.

According to local story, inside the year 1912, the Idol of Goddess Sri Kanaka Maha Lakshmi Ammavaru turned into taken out from the properly and it was set up at the middle of the street i.e., amidst the Municipal lane. The Municipal government, for the reason of widening the road, have shifted the Idol from amidst the road to a nook of the road. During which time i.e., within the year 1917 the harmful contagious disease 'Plague' unfold over the town and such a lot of deaths occurred in Visakhapatnam village.
