Kathgodam is a beautiful getaway destination in the foothills of Himalayas. Kathgodam lies in the Kumaon which is in the district of Nainital, Uttarakhand. the hill station is at the height of 554m above sea level. the word Kathgodam actually means timber depot and is most suitable as it is the trade and commerce center of the place. This place was unknown by people until the British added this place to the railway network in the year 1909. The extension of the Haldwani railways till Kathgodam during the year 1884 made it the last station of the North Eastern railways.
Kathgodam is a pristine place which is surrounded by thick forest and there are many tourist destinations. The place is well known by the Hindu devotees as the temples of ‘Kalichaud’ and ‘Sheetla Devi’ is situated here. People from distant places come here to offer their prayers.the temperature of Kathgodam is mostly moderate and the best time to take a vacation there will be during the months of July to November. Reaching here is not a problem as it is well connected by roads, railway, and airport. There are many attractions here including the Gaula river, the temples, the forest areas, etc.
