Vasvar

Vasvar is a town in Vas County, Hungary. While the Ottomans occupied most of relevant Europe, the vicinity north of lake Balaton remained in the Kingdom of Hungary. The city become the top of the EISENBURG comitat close to 1850. Until 1918, VASVAR changed into part of the Austrian monarchy, province of Hungary; in Transleithania after the compromise of 1867 within the Kingdom of Hungary. During World War II, Vasvar become captured on 31 March 1945 via Soviet troops of the third Ukrainian Front inside the course of the Nagykanizsa–Kormend Offensive.

The Nagykanizsa–Kormend Offensive accomplished between 26 March and 15 April 1945 became part of the third Ukrainian Front's Vienna Offensive at some point of World War II in opposition to the Army Group South such as Hungarian and Croatiancitation needed forces defending the Kisbajom-Nagykorpad-Nagyatad-Heresznye protective line north of the Drava river and west of Lake Balaton.
