About Willich
Willich is a city inside the district of Viersen, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is placed close to the cities of Dusseldorf, Monchengladbach and Krefeld, about 30 kilometres from the border with the Netherlands. The city became based in 1970 out of the formerly unbiased villages of Willich, Anrath, Schiefbahn and Neersen, despite the fact that the villages are an awful lot older. Anrath was referred to for the first time in 1010, Willich in 1245, Neersen in 1262 and Schiefbahn in 1420. The villages belonged to the Electorate of Cologne till the French Revolutionary Wars after they have been occupied and annexed by way of France in 1794.
At the end of the Napoleonic Wars in 1815 the villages fell to the Kingdom of Prussia. In 1891 a twister devastated Anrath. The village turned into already impoverished by using the decline of formerly dominant domestic weaving and now the municipal management of Anrath even considered a dissolution of the village. To improve the monetary state of affairs a royal jail was built. It turned into finished in 1905.
