About Neuss
Neuss is a city in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is situated on the west bank of the Rhine contradicting Düsseldorf. Neuss is the biggest city inside the Rhein-Kreis Neuss district. It is principally known for its memorable Roman locales, just as the yearly Neusser Burger-Schutzenfest. Neuss and Trier share the title of "Germany's most oldest city"; and in 1984 Neuss praised the 2000 year anniversary of its establishing in 16 BCE.
Neuss was established by the Romans in 16 BC as a military fortress castrum with the ebb and flow city toward the north of the castrum, at the intersection of the waterways Rhine and Erft, with the name of Novaesium. Neuss recaptured its monetary power in the 19th century, with development of the harbor in 1835, and expanding modern action. The city's limits were extended in 1881. Neuss turned out to be a piece of the new province of North Rhine-Westphalia in 1946.
In 1968 the spelling of the name was changed from Neub to Neuss. In 1975 the town of Neuss and the district of Grevenbroich were joined to shape the district of Rhein-Kreis Neuss with a population of 440,000 and its seat of government in Neuss. Neuss is additionally home to Toshiba's European central command.
