About Lorrach
Lorrach is a town in southwest Germany, within the valley of the Wiese near the French and the Swiss borders. It is the capital of the district of Lorrach in Baden Wurttemberg. The largest enterprise is the Milka chocolate manufacturing unit. The city had a populace of 10,794 in 1905 and of 47,707 in 2007. Nearby is the fortress of Rotteln on the Wiesenthal, whose lords became the counts of Hochberg and a house of the Margraves of Baden this changed into destroyed by using the troops of Louis XIV in 1678, but became rebuilt in 1867.
Lorrach received market rights in 1403 however it did not acquire the privileges of a town till 1682. After the Napoleonic epoch, the city turned into covered in the Grand Duchy of Baden. On September 21, 1848, Gustav Struve attempted to begin a revolutionary uprising in Lorrach as a part of the Revolutions of 1848 to 49.
