Leverkusen

Leverkusen is a city in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany on the eastern bank of the Rhine. Toward the South, Leverkusen fringes the city of Cologne and toward the North is the state capital Dusseldorf. With around 161,000 occupants, Leverkusen is one of the state's littler urban communities. The city is known for the pharmaceutical organization Bayer and its related games club Bayer 04 Leverkusen. The core of what is presently Leverkusen was a town called Wiesdorf, which goes back to the 12th century.

Amid the Cologne War, from 1583 to 1588 Leverkusen was attacked by war. The whole territory was country until the late 19th century, when industry provoked the improvement that prompted the city of Leverkusen, and to its getting to be a standout amongst the most significant focuses of the German synthetic industry. Hitdorf and Bergisch Neukirchen joined Leverkusen.

The present city is comprised of a few towns, initially called Wiesdorf, Opladen, Schlebusch, Manfort, Bürrig, Hitdorf, Quettingen, Lützenkirchen, Steinbuchel, Rheindorf and Bergisch-Neukirchen. The city is home of the football crew Bayer 04 Leverkusen and of the German record holder of national ball titles, which is the group Bayer Giants Leverkusen. Starting at 2017, the group plays in the third division ProB and plays its home diversions in the Smidt-Arena. The Smidt-Arena, recently known as Wilhelm Dopatka Halle, was one of the host fields for the FIBA EuroBasket 1985 .
