About Donauworth
Donauworth is a city and the capital of the Donau-Ries district in Swabia, Bavaria, Germany. It is stated to were based by using two fishermen wherein the rivers Danube and Wornitz meet. The metropolis is a part of the scenic direction called "Romantische Strabe". The city is located between Munich and Nuremberg, 46 km north of Augsburg. Donauworth grew up within the direction of the 11th and 12th centuries underneath the protection of the citadel of Mangoldstein, have become within the 13th century a seat of Duke Ludwig II of Bavaria, who, however, quickly withdrew to Munich to break out from his spouse, Duchess Maria of Brabant, whom he had there beheaded on an unfounded suspicion of infidelity.
The town received the liberty of the Holy Roman Empire in 1308, and maintained its function no matter the encroachments of Bavaria until 1607, whilst the interference of the Protestant inhabitants with the abbot of the Heilig-Kreuz called forth an imperial law authorizing the duke of Bavaria to punish them for the offence.
