The festival of the pool/eid ul ghadeer
About The festival of the pool/eid ul ghadeer
This is a festival observed by Shi‘a Muslims, for whom it's far a very vital day. It commemorates an event rapidly before the loss of life of the Prophet. While coming back from Makkah to Medina after his very last pilgrimage, observed by using many hundreds of his followers, the Prophet stopped at an oasis to supply a sermon. While preaching, he is believed to have raised the hand of Ali, his cousin and son-in-law, and proclaimed, ‘For whoever I am his chief, Ali is his leader. O God, love those who love him, and be hostile to those who are hostile to him’.
Immediately after this announcement the Prophet found out an ayah of the Qur’an: ‘Today I actually have perfected your religion and finished my favour upon you, and I changed into happy that Islam be your religion’ For Shi‘a Muslims the ‘perfecting’ of the religion of Islam turned into the statement regarding Ali, which they understand to be his clean appointment to be successor to the prophet as the religious and temporal chief of Islam. This sermon became preached by a pool in a place referred to as Khumm.
