About Kalbelia Dance Festival
Kalbelia folk songs and dance of Rajbail are part of UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage in India. Energetic, elegant, flexible and martial, skillful art is one of the most prestigious experiences of the desert state of Rajasthan. Calbellia dance is a symbol of a pleasant event and is an important part of the Cabelia culture. Kalbelia community is a horrific tribe of Rajasthan. Their possession of business snake poison and snake snake has given them the title of Jogira, Sapera or Jogi.
Kalbelia is not only a dance form but it is a matter of pride for the Kalbelia community. Kalabalia women are very happy to dance while men go with musical instruments, especially with 'Pongi'. Lyrics and dance form part of an oral tradition that gets inherited for generations. Dance forms an attempt to revive the community's own cultural heritage.
