About Weiyuan Fort

Weiyuan Fort is a seaside barrier fort, now in ruins, in Humen, Dongguan, Guangdong, China. The post was built in 1835 and was being used amid the Opium Wars. The fortification is arranged promptly under the Humen Bridge. There were 44 guns there to guard against the British, 40 dull gunnery and 4 open stronghold. It is 360 meters long. Entrance is free, with legitimate documents. Plans for Weiyuan Fort was attracted up 1834 as a major aspect of endeavors by the Qing government to brace the Humen strait in the Pearl River Delta.

After the development of four noteworthy posts along the straits, Lu Kun proposed that another stronghold be built in the style of a crossed stage, which was Weiyuan Fort. In the meantime, Yong'an Fort was based on the western end of an island in the strait and Gonggu Fort was built on the contrary bank in the lower regions of Luwan Mountain. Weiyuan Fort was caught in the 1841 Battle of the Bogue, 1847 Expedition to Canton, and 1856 Battle of the Bogue.
