About Small Wild Goose Pagoda

The Small Wild Goose Pagoda, some of the time Little Wild Goose Pagoda, is one of two huge pagodas in Xi'an, Shaanxi, China, the site of the old Han and Tang capital Chang'an. The other outstanding pagoda is the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, initially inherent 652 and re-established in 704. The Small Wild Goose Pagoda was worked between 707– 709, amid the Tang line under Emperor Zhongzong of Tang. The pagoda stood 45 m until the 1556 Shaanxi quake. The seismic tremor shook the pagoda and harmed it so it presently remains at a tallness of 43 m with fifteen levels of tiers. The pagoda has a block outline worked around an empty inside, and its square base and shape mirror the building style of different pagodas from the time.

During the Tang Dynasty, the Small Wild Goose Pagoda remained over a road from its mom sanctuary, the Dajianfu Temple. Pioneers conveyed sacrosanct Buddhist compositions to the sanctuary and pagoda from India, as the sanctuary was one of the primary focuses in Chang'an for deciphering Buddhist texts. The sanctuary was more seasoned than the pagoda, since it was established in 684, precisely 100 days after the demise of Emperor Gaozong of Tang. Sovereign Zhongzong had given his home to the working of another sanctuary here, keeping up the sanctuary for 200 priests out of appreciation for his expired dad Gaozong.
