Quipapa

Quipapa is a Brazilian municipality inside the country of Pernambuco. The municipality of Quipapa had its origin within the village that turned into erected in the area, concentrated around a small chapel that acquired the status of parish, with a sure homage to Our Lady of the Conception of Quipapa. The work turned into done with the aid of black fugitives, who have been part of Quilombo dos Palmares, and became officially erected between 1795 and 1796, when Captain Francisco Rodrigues de Melo and his spouse, D. Ana Maria dos Prazeres, settled in Fazenda das Panelas, ensuing within the municipality of the equal name.

The district created with the name Quipapa, became given by means of provincial regulation number 432, dated June 23, 1857, in which it became underneath the jurisdiction of the municipality of Panelas. Years later, it become extended to the class of village with the denomination only of Quipapa provincial regulation nº 1402, of 12 of May of 1879 and installed in 18 of July of 1879. The upward push to municipality repute, there has been definitively in 19 of May of 1900, the State Law quantity 432, keeping apart from the Pots municipality range 54, of 23 of November of 1905, which created the district of Pau Ferro andattached to the municipality of Quipapa.

As administrative department, the municipality is produced from six districts: Quipapa, Barra de Jangada, Jurema, Pau Ferro, Queimadas and Sao Benedito, onbde later the district of Jurema is also accelerated to the category of municipality. In 1938, atrave the Decree-Law No. 235, of 9 of December of 1938, the district of Sao Sebastiao da Barra become abolished, and its territory annexed to Quipapa district and Saint Benedict. Between 1939 and 1943, the municipality consists of four districts: Quipapa, Igarapeba, Pau Ferro and Sao Benedito.
